Choose your type
Me Luna menstrual cups come into different degrees of softness. For easy use, the menstrual cup should not be too soft for your muscles. While choosing your Me Luna please pay attention to the appropriate softness for you (and don't be distracted by the most beautiful color only ;-)
Me Luna Classic
The Me Luna Classic has a softness of 40 Shore (a term for describing the flexibility of plastic).
A menstrual cup must unfold, or "pop open" completely inside the vagina to form a seal.
The cup's material should be firm enough to unfold inside the vagina while being surrounded by its muscles.
At the same time the cup's material should not be unpleasantly hard. A menstrual cup should not cause any feeling of pressure when in place.
Ideally it should be soft enough to fold easily, with enough resilience to "pop open" inside the vagina.
Me Luna Classic is suitable for most women:
> Any woman with normally developed musculature.
> Any woman with normal sensitivity (no pain or pressure with previous tampon use).
Me Luna Sport
The Me Luna Sport has a softness of 50 Shore, and is therefore 25% more resilient than Me Luna Classic.
If you press the cup in your hand, it immediately springs back into shape. This resilience makes Me Luna Sport a little more difficult to use.
Its resilience also means that even under pressure of strong pelvic muscles the cup can unfold perfectly and its seal can stay in place.
Even under the stress of sport and exercise.
Me Luna Sport is designed for women with strong pelvic floor muscles.
Some sports and exercises develop particularly strong pelvic floor muscles, such as yoga, horseback riding, Pilates, Kegel exercises, and pole dancing.
Me Luna Sport is recommended for :
> Women whose athletic fitness is above average.
> Women whose pelvic floor muscles are very well toned.
Me Luna Soft
Me Luna Soft was developed for women who are particularly sensitive, and for women whose pelvic floor muscles are less developed.
> Women who find using tampons uncomfortable, causing pressure or pain.
> Women who are particularly sensitive to pressure and pain.
> Women whose pelvic floor muscles are less developed.
The material of the Me Luna Soft has a softness of 30 Shore, and is therefore 25% softer than Me Luna Classic.
This material feels very soft and can be compressed quite easily. However, this means that the material does not have as much tension as the Me Luna Classic, and therefore sometimes does not "pop open" inside the vagina as easily.
Using a Me Luna Soft usually requires more practice than using the Me Luna Classic. If the pressure of the vaginal muscles around Me Luna Soft is too strong, there is a risk that the cup will not properly unfold inside the vagina.
Menstrual cup Me Luna Soft is recommended for women whose pelvic floor muscles may not be quite as strong. Women with normal pelvic musculature should choose Me Luna Classic.
Choose your stem style
STEM: recommended for women who prefer to wear Me Luna very deep, or whose cervix is positioned very far back in the vagina. Beginners who are anxious about removing MeLuna might prefer the stem grip. By the way – if the stem is too long or bothersome, it can be easily trimmed to your preferred length.
BALL is our most popular grip style.
RING is easy to grasp and can make removal easier, so it is often preferred by beginners.
SHORTY S can truly be described as the world's smallest cup. It is especially suitable for very young women who have not used a tampon or tampon exclusively in the smallest available sizes. The Me Luna SHORTY S is mostly used by very young women, who have had no vaginal births. Women with a very light menstrual flow, with a small and slim physique may try this size. Me Luna SHORTY S can also be used by young girls who are still a virgin. The diameter is the same to our size S, but the cup is shorter.
Dimensions: greatest diameter 38mm, length 35mm without grip.
Volume: 15ml to the brim, 8ml to the holes.
> SHORTY M has the same diameter as Me Luna M. The length of the cup is reduced. The SHORTY M can be used by women who have a shortened vagina. Even young girls who have not yet had sexual intercourse, may use Me Luna SHORTY M under certain conditions. Women with good pelvic floor muscles, whose vagina is shortened.
Dimensions: greatest diameter 41mm, length 38mm without grip.
Volume: 18ml to the brim, 10ml to the holes.
> SHORTY L has the same diameter as Me Luna L. The length of the cup is reduced. The SHORTY L is mostly used by middle-aged women who have had vaginal births and whose body is somewhat corpulent. Women whose pelvic muscles has eased, in conjunction with a slight uterine prolapse benefit from this short cup. After one or more pregnancies, it may be that the pelvic floor muscles has eased. With increasing age it can cause problems for many women. A menstrual cup with a smaller diameter slips under these conditions, because it is no longer held by the muscles. But often there is not enough space for a longer cup, like normal size L or XL.
Dimensions: greatest diameter 44mm, length 41mm without grip.
Volume: 22ml to the brim, 14ml to the holes.
> SHORTY XL has the same diameter as Me Luna XL. The length of the cup is reduced. The SHORTY XL is mostly used by middle-aged women who have had vaginal births and whose body is somewhat corpulent.
Dimensions: greatest diameter 47mm, length 44mm without grip.
Volume: 27ml to the brim, 16ml to the holes.

I bought Me Luna Shorty as a replacement for Lady Cup - which was too long for me. While the length of the cup is great, the 'texture' of Me Luna is a lot softer and it's opening is a lot wider compared to the Lady Cup. I had trouble getting the cup to open up and sit properly. Perhaps its the way I fold the cup and so it always leaks.
If you're looking a comparison between lady cup and Me Luna this might be a useful comparison:
(pro) It's short and it is easy to remove the cup.
(con): It doesn't open up as I would like it to. Leaks rather often, especially if you have a heavy flow. Have to empty the cup rather often.
(Pro): Opens up easier, and almost never leaks. Don't have to empty the cup as often, as it can hold a larger volume.
(con): It length is too long for me and it was challenging to remove to cup at first - it can be a bit hard to break the vacuum at first).
I hope this helps!

Like many women, my cervix is very low during my period. Luckily for me, the medium MINI MeLuna with ring was my first-time cup! Insertion and removal was a breeze from the beginning, I've never once had a leak, and it's sooo comfortable.
I'm really grateful that MeLuna is continuing to offer this design of cup and I hope they always do, because it's the only one like it on the market.
P.S. One thing I love about the ring (aside from its usefulness as a grip) is that you can use it to hang the cup to air-dry after cleaning.
